‘몰입의 방’은 집중해서 읽는 경험을 위한 별도의 장면으로 설정했다. 기존 공간과 구분되는 방으로 계획하고 전체 조도를 낮춘 뒤, 스폿 조명을 사용해 시선이 책으로 모이도록 했다. 주변의 밝기와 대비가 생기면서 자연스럽게 조용해지는 분위기가 형성되고, 오래 앉아 있어도 피로하지 않도록 좌석과 시야의 방향을 정리했다.

또한 기존 책바가 가지고 있던 상징적인 요소들—비밀의 문, 2인 책상석, 1인 라운지체어석—은 유지했다. 다만 각 요소가 따로 존재하는 것이 아니라, 공간을 이동하며 자연스럽게 발견하고 선택하게 되는 흐름 속에 놓이도록 재배치했다. 혼자 와서 조용히 머무는 사람, 둘이 나란히 읽거나 이야기하는 사람, 작은 이벤트를 위해 모이는 사람까지 각 사용 방식이 서로 간섭하지 않도록 거리감과 시선의 겹침을 조절해, 책바 특유의 분위기와 기능이 동시에 작동하도록 했다.

결과적으로 책바는 ‘바’의 단일한 성격으로 규정되기보다, 읽기·대화·관람·이벤트 같은 여러 활동이 한 공간 안에서 자연스럽게 전환되는 장소로 확장되었다. 책과 술이라는 대비는 오히려 공간의 선택지를 넓혀주고, 방문자의 방식에 따라 서로 다른 경험이 만들어지도록 한다.

The “Immersion Room” was set as a distinct scene for focused reading. Planned as a separate room from the main space, it lowers the overall ambient light and uses spot lighting to draw attention to the page. The contrast in brightness naturally quiets the atmosphere, while the seating and sightlines were adjusted so visitors can stay comfortably absorbed for long periods.

Iconic elements from the original Chaeg Bar—the secret door, two-person desk seating, and single lounge chair seats—were retained. Instead of letting each element stand alone, they were repositioned within a flow that encourages visitors to discover and choose them naturally as they move through the space. Distances and overlapping sightlines were carefully calibrated so different modes of staying—quiet solo visits, paired reading or conversation, and small gatherings for events—can coexist without interfering, allowing both the mood and function of Chaeg Bar to operate at the same time.

As a result, Chaeg Bar expands beyond the single identity of a “bar” into a place where reading, conversation, viewing, and events can transition naturally within one space. The contrast between books and alcohol, rather than narrowing the experience, opens up more ways to use the space—so different experiences can emerge depending on how each visitor chooses to stay.
